I am not an expert. These are a random assortment of Burning Man terms.
BMIR
Burning Man Information Radio 94.9 FM. An unlicensed radio station which broadcasts from Black Rock City.
Burner
A Burning Man attendee. Once a Burner, always a Burner.
Center Camp
The camp created by Burning Man for everyone. It is located at 6:00 and A, and is an event space. It used to serve coffee (the only other thing than ice that could be officially purchased), but no longer does.
Darkwad
A person, riding a bike or not, who is on the playa at night but without any illumination.
Default World
The world outside of Burning Man.
Esplanade
The avenue between the city and the playa. Mutant Vehicles are not allowed on esplanade. Esplanade is a buffer between the city and the artwork on the playa.
Exodus
Leaving Burning Man.
GARS
Gate Advisory Radio Station 95.1 FM, an unlicensed station which broadcasts from Black Rock City a repeated set of messages for those entering Burning Man.
Mutant Vehicle
The only type of vehicle participants can drive around the city and the playa. Vehicles must be suitably transformed to be mutant. They must be registered and approved ahead of the start of Burning Man, and inspected and licensed on site before they are allowed to drive. Also known as an “art car”.
Playa
The area where the Man and Temple reside, and all of the space surrounding it, except for Black Rock City. “Playa” means “beach” in Spanish, which might be a tempting original story (the first Burning Man was held on a beach in San Francisco), but that is not the origin of the word: playa refers to particular desert terrain, on which Burning Man sits.
Playa Name
A burner’s name for the playa, traditionally given to them by someone else.
